Garage Built Sissy Bar – Part II
April 8, 2021Started building this sissy bar for the 1988 Sportster a while ago and it has been on the bike for a bit now. Added the license plate bracket and finally got the tail light wired up.
Build. Tinker. Ride. Trials and Tribulations (and good times) of my motorcycle projects and other garage tinkering. Learning and building things. Building, wrenching on, and riding Harley Davidson Evolution Sportsters, Big Twins, and anything else with two wheels. Currently working on restoring and preserving a 1988 Harley Davidson Sportster chopper. I also post information on other DIY projects I tinker on.

I am building a sissy bar for the 1988 Sportster from some 1/2″ steel round stock I picked up from JR Enterprises in Chesapeake. A little bit of bending, a little bit of welding, and a lot of grinding. Worked on this…
Wanted a small bag for the Sporty. Just something to keep the registration, glasses, etc. Didn’t want anything too big. Looked at a bunch of different options and found this nylon bag from Deadbeat Customs.
Mounted the sissy bar on the Sportster this weekend. The pad is new, but the other parts are swap meet finds. I may paint the support brackets at some point but it doesn’t look too bad as it is.
